The interior of Guyana faced some prolonged periods of drought over the last few years, I’m still not sure the rains that have fallen in recent months has managed to reverse the conditions significantly.

The stark trees against the cloud-studded sky brought to mind austerity in the face of plenty.
The Pakaraimas are beautiful in themselves, to travel through them and to see the scorched earth and the dry trees was a shock.
Mind you, it made our trip a much easier drive. Make oranges from the orange juice, right? 🙂
agreed. much better drive then crawling through mud, or winching our way out of mud…
