This week, I complete my Project for the year, the 2010 Deck, 52 Photographs, one for each week of the year. There were times when I thought I would have to upload a photograph of my shoes, that was when a week was tough, and other times I had difficulty choosing from the ones I had taken, so taking too many is just as bad as taking too few photographs.
I am not sure that I have grown as a photographer over this year, but I do have a better appreciation of the photography of others as my blogging has introduced me to many other wonderful photographers, many of them with superior talents and images, and others learning as I am, as we take our photographs whether daily or weekly.
Although the sun sets on this year’s project, I look forward to renewing the project next year and hopefully finding a new perspective on photography through the inspiration I gain from the works of others and the encouragement of my family and friends, online photographers being a new and integral part of my new friends.
I hope 2010 was filled with as many learning experiences as you could handle, and I wish that for 2011, you see the world with fresh eyes (or lenses) and appreciate each passing moment for what it is, whether it can be captured digitally, on film, or just in your heart.

I can only speak for myself, but I believe that I’ve seen an improvement in your photos. The complexity of images you’ve done seem better calculated to draw interest and you’ve also got a better handle on colour images.
The most important thing is that you have been making a regular effort to take photos and you have challenged yourself with a variety of subjects. It hasn’t been wasted. Things seemed to have slowed a bit towards the end of the year, but that is understandable for all of us.
The biggest improvements would have come as we got more familiar with our equipment and comfortable walking around the place. Improvement would have tapered off towards the end of the year, or at least become less dramatic.
I still think there is significant scope for improvement in both of us, in various areas. Hopefully this year would have given us an idea of where those improvements should come.
Your Idea of taking a picture a week has given much joy to many of us. May be that is one of the reasons I did not realise the year was coming to an end. I looked forward to my weekly mail letting me know that your pick of the week has arrived. . I think the robbery you and Nik experienced may have done something to you and your venture. It could not have been easy to settle back into your project with the shadow of the memory hanging over you. Hats off to you for a job well done. Looking forward to whatever you decide to do for next year.
Thanks A.Rose 🙂
Congratulations to you on the completion of your project. It would be worthwhile to do this – choose one photo each week. I wonder if I have that much discipline.
All the best for you for the new year and new series,
Cindy
Thanks Cindy! I think this was my way of keeping up with Nikhil, he was doing a 365 but I KNEW I wouldn’t make that, so I chose one a week instead 🙂
Congrats on finishing your project! Being consistent and sticking to our goals does make us better photographers.
Thanks Susan! I look forward to this year’s onw 🙂
