It’s been 50 years since some forward thinking people declared Independence for this little nation we now call Guyana. They were looking forward to their futures, some idealistic land of self-rule and happiness for the masses I suppose.
I think by now, most of them have all gone and left many of us wishing we were still under colonial rule, it wouldn’t have been that bad, would it? We’ll never know, and doing the whole “what if” dance is not going to help anyone.
Sadly, even though many of the idealist have gone, there remains some of the followers who can’t seem to open their eyes and realise that the old way can’t work and that the path the country is on is not the right one, that implementing old ideas, once discarded, will not bring about new changes.
I babble… I’ve been staring at this photo for weeks and didn’t know what to write and now I write something quite out of character and from way out of left-field.
Here’s a photo 🙂

Sometimes, its necessary to stop, let everything that’s weighing on your mind take a backseat, and just let the wind, the waves, the sun and the sand speak to you.

This blog is now 5 years old…. it doesn’t feel like it. Today I am feeling somewhat introspective….
I am not my parents…
I am not my ancestors…
I am not a representation of one particular political party or the other, of one race or the other, of one ideology or the other…
I am the debris upon our coast, that which is a product of the actions of others, whether deliberate or accidental.
I have been cast upon the shore, faithfully placed or carelessly thrown.
I have been left on my own, to survive or perish.
I may be strong or I may be weak, but mother nature will still prevail.
I may be solitary, or in the company of others…
I am the debris upon our coast.

The fascination with all things coastal continues! Of course, it’s more like searching for images that I like and since most of my time seems spent on the coast, that’s what you’ll get 🙂
The fishing boats at Lusignan, always seem to compel me to take a few photos, even if I never use them, but this one worked well for me, I think my processing went a tad overboard (no pun intended) but at the end of it all I still liked the final image.
I was considering a Dutch title for the image since the word Moored comes from the Dutch word Meren (according to some dictionary I was reading), but then the name Lusignan was from France, so I went with a French title instead (not that anyone really cares) 😀
